"I have definitely seen blessings
here that I know are coming from my family’s prayers; blessings like
patience for me. I have really enjoyed this last week and have been more
patient with myself. I’ve kind of had to reassess my expectations and realize
that I’ve only been here a short time. I have definitely been given the gift of
tongues and although I’m not anywhere close to where I want to be in Spanish, I
need to be patient and grateful for my blessings."

April 14, 2014 Email from Motupe, Peru
Sister Risso, Elder Coons, Elder Thompson & President Risso
Peru Chiclayo Mission
Motupe, Peru - First Area
First Area! Assigned to Motupe, Peru which is 44 miles or one and a half hours travel time northwest of Chiclayo. Companions with Elder Brian Coons from Los Angeles, California.
"Flying into Chiclayo was cool. It was the most green I have seen here for
seven weeks. It’s a little bit more
rural here. I’m in Motupe which is about
one and half hours out of Chiclayo. I
love my area but I don’t know Spanish. The first week out of the CCM was the
hardest for me so I’m sure next week will be much better! I’m trying to
remember things to tell you but it’s hard!
I was able to watch General Conference at the CCM! It was great!!! Elder Waddell gave the closing prayer of the
Saturday morning session. He is the 70
who spoke to us in the CCM. He is
really great. President Uchtdorf gave some great talks. The Sunday morning
session was a good one!!"
